We’re proud and honoured to announce that MCE Engineering Limited recently manufactured and installed the UK’s first UV Indicator on behalf of the Colin Bloomfield Melanoma Appeal at Markeaton Park in Derby.

We were approached by Derby Homes, BBC Radio Derby and the registered charity organisation Skcin to produce a lasting legacy in the memory of much loved Radio Derby Presenter Colin Bloomfield who sadly passed away in April 2015 after his long and brave battle against Melanoma Cancer.

BBC Radio Derby formed The Colin Bloomfield Melanoma Appeal and have been working in partnership with the registered charity Skcin since 2015 to help promote, educate and raise awareness to people about the dangers of UV Sun Light and the importance of sun safety.

Thanks to the amazing efforts of all involved the appeal has raised a massive £175,000 and Skcin continue to work tirelessly getting the message out there to people young and old about the importance of protecting our skin against the suns harmful rays.

MCE Engineering Limited designed, manufactured and installed the Iconic Structure as a charitable donation in support of the Colin Bloomfield Melanoma Appeal.

The Solar Powered UV Indicator purchased from Chile features a ‘traffic light system’, this warns of the levels of UV in the sun at any one time visually highlighting different risk levels from green (safe) through to high risk (black) whilst indicating the appropriate safety measure to be taken with high visibility easy to understand artwork.
